RESPECT Award for Pitstone & Ivinghoe JFC Under 14s

Berks and Buck FA Logo Respect Logo

Congratulations to Congratulations to the Under 14s who have been awarded the Berks and Bucks County FA's RESPECT award for Fairplay. David Lewis, the County Child Welfare Officer said that the Berks and Bucks FA wanted to recognise the good work that the whole club is doing in this area they were particularly impressed with our Bullying Awareness training, but they can only award the prize to one age group. So they looked at the disciplinary records and fairplay feedback for all of our older teams and they decided that the under 14s were the worthy winners so well done to Mark, Andy, all of their team and supporters.

The team will be presented with medals, a framed certificate and a cheque for £200 at a special RESPECT Celebration evening at the end of June.

This is a really great achievement for the club, David says that each County FA has been asked to nominate just one boys team and one girls team, so we should be really proud that out of all of the clubs in the whole of Berks and Bucks, they've chosen us - well done everyone!

Kit Aid Logo

A great start to 2010 - 2,500 items of kit sent out already!

KitAid is a charity set up by Derrick Williams MBE, from Hemel Hempsted, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters' trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing his favourite football shirt (Watford, Chesham Utd, Liverpool FC to name a few). After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick's heart and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Ten years on, KitAid has Graham Taylor OBE as its Patron, lots of volunteers and to date they've sent out 100,000 kits to children and adults in 30 different countries across the world.

“In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit, and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come.” - Jane Bateman, Head of International Relations, The Football Association

gtaylor.JPG “I’m immensely proud to be KitAid’s Patron. Not only has the organisation gone from strength to strength over the last decade, the willingness of football clubs at all levels to have kit collection days, shows that football as a whole does indeed have a caring side. To see the photographs - of children in particular - from some of the poorest countries in the world, receiving and wearing the kit that has been sent to them is just reward indeed for the fabulous work that KitAid does. Long may it continue! Many thanks to all those individuals, clubs and partners who not only donate kit, but help make sure we get them to the right destinations.” - Graham Taylor O.B.E and Patron of KitAid

Here at P & I JFC we have long supported the work of this local organisation by donating our surplus kit and equipment to help other children around the world who maybe don’t have the same opportunities as our kids.

We are now starting another collection so if you have any good quality kit or boots that you no longer need, please pass them to your manager or any member of the Committee so that we can send them on to help other communities.

FA launch new parent and carer guides

As part of an ongoing initiative, the Football Association have replaced the old "Soccer Parent" scheme with new guidelines for parents and carers alike under their new "Respect" campaign.

The club would like to ask that you spend some a little time reviewing the very useful information that is available from the FA website:

Many thanks

Pitstone and Ivinghoe Junior Football Club

Our junior football club was founded in 1986 and provides football coaching and games for children between the ages of 5 and 16. Members of the club are drawn from all of the villages in the surrounding area, including Cheddington and Marsworth.  We are a Charter Standard club, which means that we follow the F.A recommendations on coaching, child protection and administration, and are working towards being a Community Standard club.

At Pitstone & Ivinghoe Junior F.C. we believe that we have a unique set up, as some Clubs may measure their success in terms of the number of cups and trophies they win but we consider our success to be measured by the pleasure and opportunity given to local youngsters and them having the chance to participate in regular organised football activities at an affordable cost. This isn't to say we don't strive to achieve honours each season, but we don't want to sacrifice participation in the search for glory.

Supporting the players are 20 qualified coaches most of whom, together with additional adult assistants have completed the Football Association Emergency Aid and Child Protection Courses, within the last 2 years. In addition the club have designated Child Protection Officers.

Each team enters its own League and Cup competitions, and from Under 12, teams have the chance to participate in the County Cup competitions. There are also a host of local tournaments that our teams enter during the spring and summer months.

In addition to football matches and training the club have other activities among them the end of season presentation day, discos and bingo evenings.
